Additional information about the CVM Summer Research Training Program
Elective Credit Hour Application and Limits
Student and mentor agree on the time & effort for the proposed experience(s) relative to the number of credit hours for enrollment in IDSP-800. Minimum of 2 or maximum of 4 credit hours for the entire summer session.
Expectations: 4 credits = 40 hours, “full time”/week for 8 weeks (June & July).
2 credits = 20 hours “half time”/week for 8 weeks (June & July), or “full time”/week for 4 weeks (typically either June or July).
To be eligible for Medical School elective credit hours, the student will have to fill out the RedCap Application for the Summer Research Training Program. This application will be used to determine if your project is approved for elective course credit.

TL1 Predoctoral Research Training Program
Student and mentor should consider applying to Frontiers TL1 Predoctoral Clinical and Translational Research Training Program. This is a NIH funded program offered through KU Frontiers with a 1-year time commitment from the student after second year of medical school. The program offers Master of Science in Clinical Research degree training with covered tuition support, stipend, research funds, travel support and expectation to pursue a research project during the one-year program: Predoctoral Career Development (TL1-Pre-doctoral Program). · Program for AI and Research in Cardiovascular Medicine (PARC)
