The School of Medicine recognizes first-year students’ entrance into the medical profession at a White Coat Ceremony. The White Coat Ceremony is one of a series of student-focused initiatives developed by the medical school as part of its professionalism curriculum. This curriculum was implemented to foster a culture among students and faculty that honors the ideals of medical professionalism: maintenance of patient interest above physician self-interest, altruism, accountability, excellence, duty and service, honor and integrity, and respect for others.

The White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2030 will be on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 1:00pm.

- Friends and family of our newest medical students are welcome to attend.
- Doors open to the public at noon.
- No ticket is required.
- Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- ADA seating is available for guests but is limited.
- Only one additional person may accompany a guest requiring accommodations in the ADA seating area.
- The ceremony will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
- A livestream link will be available on this webpage the day of the ceremony.
- The ceremony will include closed captioning for online viewers.
- An American Sign Language interpreter will be present at the ceremony.
- Contact rodell5@kumc.edu to request seating near the interpreter.
- The ceremony will be recorded and available for online viewing the following week.
