Annual Event
Women in Medicine and Sciences recognizes faculty and trainees at our annual end-of-year celebration event.
2026 Annual Event
The annual end-of-year event for WIMS will be held on Tuesday, August 18th at 4:00pm. We hope you will join us for ice cream and networking! Dr. Sufi Thomas, Ph.D., WIMS President '25-26 will give a State of WIMS address. Newly elected WIMS Executive Committee members will be introduced and the 2026 WIMS award recipients will be announced and celebrated at the event!

2025 Annual Event
The annual end-of-year event for WIMS was held on Wednesday, August 20th at 4:30pm. Attendees enjoyed ice cream and networking time. Dr. Stepheny Berry, M.D., '24-25 WIMS President, gave a State of WIMS address. Dr. Sufi Thomas, Ph.D., '25-26 President, shared her vision for WIMS. The 2025 WIMS award recipients were announced and celebrated at the event!

2024 Annual Event
The annual end-of-academic-year event for WIMS was held as an ice cream social on Thursday, August 15th at 4:30pm. Dr. Carla Keirns, M.D., Ph.D, '23-24 WIMS President gave a State of WIMS address. The 2024 WIMS award recipients were also announced at the event!

2023 Annual Event
The 2023 Women in Medicine and Science annual event was an Ice Cream Social held on Thursday, August 17th at 4:30pm. The in-person social included celebrating the 2023 WIMS Award Recognition recipients as well as hearing about diversity and inclusivity efforts from Dr. Jerrihlyn McGee and Dr. Lynette Sparkman-Barnes.

2022 Annual Event
The 2022 Women in Medicine and Science annual event was an Ice Cream Social held on Monday, August 29 at 5:00pm. The in-person social included celebrating the 2022 WIMS Recognition Award recipients and the announcement of the 2022-2025 Joy McCann Professor as well as the 2022-2023 WIMS Executive Council.
2021 Annual Event
The 2021 Women in Medicine and Science Annual Awards Event was held Thursday, August 26, at noon. The virtual event included a keynote by Dr. Kimber Richter, and the presentation of awards to honor distinguished women in the KU Medical Center community.
