Professional Background

Dr. Esfandyari has completed her internal medicine internship at Cleveland Clinic Health System, OH, 2000-2001, internal medicine residency training at University of Massachusetts, 2021-2003. and gastroenterology fellowship at Mayo Clinic, MN, 2003-2006.
She completed a self-directed training in advanced 3rd space therapeutic endoscopy, Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) for treatment of early GI malignancies, per-Oral Endoscopic Myotomies (POEMs) for GI motility disorders such as gastroparesis, achalasia,.., Endoscopic Surgery for reflux disease and Bariatric Endoscopy, at ASGE animal laboratories and Harvard Medical School in 2018-2019.
She holds 2 Master's Degrees (M.Sc.); Gastrointestinal Neuroscience from University of Calgary, CANADA, 1997-1999 and Master's Degree in Clinical Research from Mayo Clinic, MN, 2004-2008.
She is an Associate Professor of Medicine in division of gastroenterology, hepatology and motility at The University of Kansas, Kansas City. She is Director of GI Motility Group at The University of Kansas Health System.
She is actively participating in clinical research. she had completed more than 50 clinical trials over past 10 years and is currently the principal investigator (PI) to 15 active clinical trials.
Dr Esfandyari is passionate in educating medical students, residents and fellows. She has mentored many medical students, residents and fellows throughout their trainings and career paths.
