Professional Background
Tiffany Barkley, D.O., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She joined the faculty in 2021 following the completion of a one-year fellowship in Vascular Neurology at KU Medical Center.
Dr. Barkley completed her child neurology residency at Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics, where she served as Chief Resident during the 2019–2020 academic year. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Bonaventure University. She is double board-certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with special qualifications in both Vascular Neurology and Child Neurology.
An active clinician-educator, Dr. Barkley is deeply involved in medical student, resident, and fellow education and evaluation. She currently serves as Associate Program Director of the KU Vascular Neurology Fellowship.
Her clinical and research interests center on stroke in young adults. In 2025, she founded and became Director of The Center for Stroke in Young Adults at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She serves as principal investigator on multiple clinical trials and leads several quality improvement initiatives focused on stroke care. Dr. Barkley is also actively engaged in regional and national outreach programs dedicated to stroke education and support for stroke survivors and their families.

She is also a member of Sigma Sigma Phi, the national osteopathic honor and service fraternity.
