Professional Background

Dr. McQuillan is an orthopedic hand, shoulder and elbow surgeon. He earned his M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine, and went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at Harvard University, at Mass General and Brigham and Women's Hospital. He completed a fellowship in hand, shoulder and elbow reconstruction at Emory University and Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, as well as training in minimally invasive wrist surgery at L'Institut de la Main in Paris, France. His clinical expertise includes fractures, nerve conditions, and microsurgery for the hand and arm. He has a special interest in arthroscopic wrist procedures, rotator cuff surgery, and primary and revision (re-do) shoulder replacements. He also offers advanced shoulder tendon transfer procedures to patients to maximize their range of motion.

Dr. McQuillan has a passion for clinical and translational research, and has been an invited speaker at national conferences regarding topics ranging from thoracic outlet syndrome, complex shoulder arthroplasty, to hand and wrist biomechanics. He is active in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Shoulder and Elbow Society. His research has been featured in numerous peer-reviewed publications, and he has a faculty appointment at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He enjoys teaching and mentoring medical students and residents in both research and clinical care.
