Professional Background

I am board-certified Internal Medicine Hospitalist and Physician Advisor. I joined The University of Kansas Health System in 2010 as undergraduate student researcher in the Department of Microbiology, Molecular Genetics and Immunology studying the role of CCR7 receptor in breast cancer metastasis. I earned my Medical Degree from KU School of Medicine in 2016 and completed Internal Medicine residency training in 2019 at KUMC.

As a Hospitalist, I am dedicated to delivering patient-centered care in a high-acuity inpatient setting. My primary professional focus is Observation Medicine with an emphasis on improving patient throughput while prioritizing patient safety.

As a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, I am driven to continue expanding my medical knowledge through professional development and teaching medical students and residents. As a Hospital Medicine Pathway mentor, I provide personal/professional mentorship and facilitate career development for PGY2 and PGY3 residents exploring a career in Hospital Medicine.

As a Physician Advisor, my administrative responsibilities include advocating for both patients and our health system to ensure proper utilization of resources (UR Secondary Review), completing Peer-to-Peer calls with health insurance payors, staffing the transfer center hotline and serving as a liaison between UKP physicians and hospital administration.

I currently serve on the following committees:

- Hospitalist Advisory Committee (HAC)
- Hospitalist Representative Cardiology Interdisciplinary ACS/HF Workgroup
- Sepsis Quality committee

My professional interests include observation medicine, utilization review, medical education and professional development. My personal interests include weight training, golfing, nutrition, gardening, traveling and technology.
