Doc for a Day

Doc for a Day, which started in 2001, is a biannual event hosted by medical students in the Family Medicine Interest Group chapter at KU School of Medicine-Wichita.
The goal of Doc for a Day is to inspire local middle, high school and pre-medical students to pursue a career in medicine by introducing medical education, providing Q&A time with current medical students, and hosting hands-on procedural and simulation training.

JayDoc Community Clinic
JayDoc Community Clinic was founded in 2005 by a group of KU School of Medicine-Wichita students and Family Medicine faculty member Scott Moser, M.D. Since its inception, JayDoc has remained deeply rooted in the Department of Family & Community Medicine through the leadership and support of many faculty advisors, including current advisors Tessa Rohrberg, M.D., and Tiffany Shin, Pharm.D.
The student-led clinic is dedicated to reducing barriers to healthcare access by providing free medical care to uninsured patients in Wichita and Sedgwick County, while also giving medical, pre-medical and pharmacy students meaningful opportunities to serve the community and gain hands-on clinical experience. JayDoc also serves as an important educational site for Family Medicine, with clerkship students, residents and faculty from our residency programs regularly participating in patient care and mentorship.
JayDoc is always looking for additional volunteers to support its mission and serve the Wichita community. Interested students, faculty, providers, interpreters and community members can email jcc@kumc.edu for more information about volunteer opportunities.
Dark Vapor
Developed in 2019 by KU School of Medicine-Wichita's Family Medicine Interest Group, Dark Vapor is a presentation on the effects and dangers of vaping. During the 2025-2026 academic year, 26 medical student volunteers gave 48 presentations to 2,096 elementary and middle school students in the Wichita area.
