Museum Exhibits

The Clendening History of Medicine Museum regularly features exhibits in the Clendening Foyer (Robinson 1000) from the Clendening's artifact and rare book collections, as well as hosting collaborative exhibits highlighting KUMC landmarks and anniversary celebrations.

Recent exhibits, often developed in partnership with the KUMC Archives, include: the history of anesthesia in Kansas; the integration of the KU School of Medicine; a display of works by artists with disabilities from the region; a showcase of caricatures by KUMC students and graduates; the scientific context behind Frankenstein; the discovery of an unusual cancer treatment in a Kansas bootlegger's tunnel; a look at the Kansas doctor’s black bag through time; the military uniforms of an accomplished alumnus; the story of the campus's move from Goat Hill to the Rosedale; and highlights from the collection.

Current Exhibitions:

Journey with us through the evolution of the microscope, from the first glimpses of the invisible world through the rise of laboratory medicine. Discover how a simple optical instrument transformed the way we understand the world we live in.
