An EAI Program:

  • Is faculty-led, EAI Center collaboration aligned to clear research or clinical domain​
  • Focus on long-term capability building, not one-off projects​
  • Integrates AI-expertise, infrastructure, and governance into ongoing workflows​
  • Serves as a hub for collaboration, funding pursuits, trainees, and impact​
  • Creates repeatable pathways for AI ideas from development to deployment​

AI in Health Communication

Ayo is an assistant professor in the Department of Population Health at the University of Kansas School of Medicine–Wichita. Her research centers on improving access to and utilization of health resources and services among underserved populations, using Gen AI technology to create precision health communication resources such as community-focused multimedia (including video, podcasts, and music), topic-specific AI agents addressing health misinformation, and AI applications for translating complex research findings into plain language to improve health literacy.

Anil Chauhan, M.D., is a professor and the vice-chair of artificial intelligence, informatics and innovation for the Department of Radiology. His research interests include the application of AI to create biomarkers from clinical imaging.

Diego Robles Mazzotti, Ph.D. is an assistant professor and the interim division chief in the Division of Medical Informatics, Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Mazzotti is interested in the use of AI to predict sleep-related health outcomes.
