Professional Background

I am a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita Department of Surgery. My current academic and educational responsibilities include serving as Educational Director of the ACS/AEI Surgical Skills Lab, Assistant to the Medical Student Surgical Clerkship Director, clinical educator in the anatomy laboratory, member of the Surgical Residency Interview Committee, CBCL Monitor, and member of the Department of Surgery Research Committee.
Prior to transitioning fully into surgical education and academic leadership, I practiced as a general and breast surgeon for 24 years before retiring from clinical practice in 2024. My professional interests include surgical education, simulation-based training, curriculum development, resident and medical student education, and breast disease.
