Professional Background
Dr. Melissa McKittrick Zapf is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pain, and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is currently working as a Board-certified Anesthesiologist at the University of Kansas Health System. With fellowship training and prior clinical experience in Pain Medicine, she looks forward to joining the department’s Pain Medicine team in the future as well.
Dr. McKittrick Zapf received her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her anesthesiology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (“Vanderbilt”) and her pain medicine fellowship at Vanderbilt as well. After her training was complete, she worked for several years as an Anesthesiologist and Pain Medicine Physician at the Nashville VA Medical Center while continuing to work as an Anesthesiologist at Vanderbilt as well. In 2024, she and her family returned to her hometown, Kansas City.
