lcarlini@kumc.eduProfessional Background
I am a board-certified transplant hepatologist with a passion for patient care. I take care of patients with chronic liver disease and cirrhosis, as well as patients that have had a liver transplant. I find it very rewarding to make sure my patients have a good understanding of their condition(s) so they can participate actively in their health care. I have a particular interest in alcohol-associated liver disease and understanding how this disease uniquely affects women. My background in psychology makes me particularly adept at approaching patient care in a well-rounded manner, treating the whole person, not just their disease.
I also enjoy teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. I am excited for my new role as associate program director of the transplant hepatology fellowship at KU.
