Professional Background

Kyle R. Brown, MD, FACEP, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He earned his medical degree at the University of Kansas and completed residency training in emergency medicine at Emory University. His educational work includes simulation curriculum and case development, procedural skills training, task trainers, interactive digital modules, and educational video production. He served as Associate Director of Simulation in the Department of Emergency Medicine from June 2017 through October 2023. Since February 2024, he has served as Associate Director for Airway for Foundations of Emergency Medicine. He co-produces Airway of the Month with Andrew Pirotte and led development of airwayofthemonth.com with faculty, resident, and student collaborators. His mentoring includes resident and student teaching, educational resource development, and scholarly projects. His professional service includes an oral examiner appointment with the American Board of Emergency Medicine and service as Vice President/President-Elect of the Kansas Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Academic interests include simulation and structured debriefing, procedural skills education, case-based and game-based learning, educational video production, and immersive learning resources.
