Professional Background

Dr. Kyle Summers is an associate professor and Division Director of Neuroradiology in the Department of Radiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He completed his diagnostic neuroradiology fellowship at KUMC after earning his medical degree from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completing a diagnostic radiology residency at Oklahoma State University Medical Center. He is board certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Neuroradiology.

Dr. Summers specializes in advanced neuroimaging with clinical interests that include cerebrovascular disease, stroke imaging, neurodegenerative disease, head and neck imaging, and diseases of the temporal bone and skull base.

As Division Director of Neuroradiology, Dr. Summers oversees clinical neuroimaging operations and participates in multidisciplinary initiatives involving neurology, neurosurgery, stroke care, neuro-oncology, and MRI safety. He is actively involved in institutional imaging protocol development and quality improvement efforts focused on advanced neuroimaging and stroke imaging optimization.

Dr. Summers is also deeply committed to medical education and mentorship. He directs neuroradiology peer learning initiatives and contributes extensively to resident, fellow, and multidisciplinary trainee education through curriculum development, didactic lectures, and national educational presentations in neuroradiology and cerebrovascular imaging.

Overview

Dr. Summers current scholarly and collaborative research interests include multimodal neuroimaging biomarkers in neurodegenerative disease, advanced MRI applications, CT and MR perfusion imaging, imaging quality improvement, and imaging evaluation of auditory restoration devices and congenital inner ear abnormalities.
