Professional Background

Dr. Gillenwater is a physician and an assistant professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center in the Department of Internal Medicine with a focus on ambulatory medicine. She is a simulation faculty member with the Zamierowski Institute for Experiential Learning, a partnership between The University of Kansas Health System and the University of Kansas Medical Center. She leads the patient safety curriculum for the medical students in their first two years. She previously served as an associate program director at the University of Missouri Kansas City Internal Medicine residency program from 2013-2018 and currently enjoys supervising internal medicine residents in their primary care clinic.
