Professional Background

Dr. Karl Kristiansen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pain and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center and a Board-certified Anesthesiologist at the University of Kansas Health System. Dr. Kristiansen received his medical degree with honors from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. He went on to complete a dual residency in Internal Medicine and Anesthesiology from the Medical College of Wisconsin and went on to complete both Critical Care Medicine and Cardiothoracic Anesthesia fellowships from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

He serves as the Medical Director of Clinical Informatics for the Department of Anesthesiology, optimizing the use of information through the leadership of the clinical department, division, and service of the Hospital; organizing and structuring information for its direct and secondary use, and serving as a bridge between IT and clinical personnel.
