Dr. Hessman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics. He is board certified in pediatrics and provides inpatient and outpatient care at Salina Regional Health Center. He is also the Director of Medical Education at the University of Kansas School of Medicine Salina Campus.
Dr. Hessman received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2016 where he also completed his residency in pediatrics. From 2019-2024, Dr. Hessman was a volunteer faculty member on the Salina campus of the University of Kansas School of Medicine before joining the faculty. In his role as Director of Medical Education he oversees Enrichment, Honors, and Interprofessional Simulation, as well as many other educational opportunities. Dr. Hessman particularly enjoys facilitating small group learning activities and assisting with the clinical skills curriculum.
In his medical practice Dr. Hessman enjoys providing general pediatric care from newborn though adolescence. As a clinician he also contributes to undergraduate and graduate clinical teaching on a variety of topics related to pediatric care.
Prior to joining the University of Kansas School of Medicine Salina Campus, Dr. Hessman has served as the Chair for the Pediatric Subsection of the Department of Medicine at Salina Regional Health Center (SRHC) and has served as a member of the Medical Executive Committee for SRHC.
