Professional Background
Dr. Stephan Prô is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon caring for patients with injuries to the knee and shoulder. He subspecializes in orthopedic sports medicine, where he cares not only for athletes, but those with athletic-related injuries. Dr. Prô earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine before completing orthopedic residency in Portland, Oregon and then followed by a fellowship in surgical orthopedic sports medicine at Santa Monica Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Group in 2010. He started working as a team physician for the Kansas Jayhawks in 2012. He is currently seeing patients both in Lawrence and in the Kansas City metro area. Recently he has also been appointed an assistant clinical professor at the University of Kansas Health System, teaching orthopedic sports medicine fellows since 2018. Dr. Prô has worked with professional soccer teams and assisted the U.S. men's national team in preparing for the 2010 World Cup, along with having traveled to international tournaments with the U17 and U15 national teams in 2012 and 2010, respectively. In 2024 he started working with the Kansas City Current women's professional soccer team as head team orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Pro's current team affiliations include: The University of Kansas Jayhawks (NCAA), Emporia State University (NCAA II), Baker University (NAIA), the Kansas City Current (NWSL), United States Soccer Federation as well as local high schools.
