Professional Background

Dr. Craig Follette is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Trauma/Critical and Acute Care Surgery Division at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Follette attended college in his home state at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa and received a bachelor's in biological sciences. He then attended medical school at Des Moines University and received his doctorate in Osteopathic medicine. After medical school, Dr. Follette completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. While in residency, it became clear that he wanted to pursue a career in Trauma and Critical Care Surgery. He then completed a two year AAST accredited fellowship in Trauma/Acute Care Surgery/Surgical Critical Care at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Follette then joined the Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery at KU in August 2024. Dr. Follette holds an interest in caring for complex trauma and emergency general surgery patients. Dr. Follette also has a special interest in surgical palliative care, and he is enthusiastic about medical student, resident, and fellow education. He is a member of several surgical societies, including the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, American College of Surgeons, Eastern Association for Surgery of Trauma, and American Osteopathic Association.
