Professional Background
Dr. Brent Kidd is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Kansas Health System. He received his medical degree from the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in Huntington, WV and proceeded to complete a residency in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). After residency he pursued additional training in Critical Care Medicine through Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He currently balances his time between practicing in the Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU (CTICU), Cardiac ICU (CICU), and operating room.
Dr. Kidd is an active participant in numerous clinical societies where he is an officer or member of various committees from the local to national levels. His research interests include mechanical circulatory support devices peri-cardiac surgery in addition to ICU quality improvement measures. He currently serves as the Medical Director of Sedation Services for The University of Kansas Health System as well as the Division Chief for Critical Care Medicine.
