Adam L. McClure, MD

Professional Background

Dr. Adam McClure is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine Wichita. In his clinical time, he works as an academic Pediatric Hospitalist at Wesley Children’s Hospital.

Dr. McClure was born and raised in Olathe, KS. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, OK. He earned his Medical Doctorate at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. After medical school, he completed Pediatric Residency at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas.

In the past, Dr. McClure has served as the Associate Director of the Pediatric Residency Program. In this role, he focused on curriculum innovation, didactic teaching, and non-clinical education of residents.

Since 2022, he has cared for pediatric patients with cystic fibrosis and served as the Associate Director of the Pediatric Program at the CF Center at Ascencion Via Christi in Wichita. He is passionate about process improvement and enhancing both quality of care and family experience.

In December 2025, he became the Medical Director for Inpatient Pediatrics at Wesley Children's Hospital. In this leadership role, he strives to optimize patient safety, develop systems of care which support evidence-based medicine and quality of care, and enhance collaboration among physicians and all staff within the children's hospital.

Research

Overview

Dr. McClure's research and scholarly interests encompass quality improvement and clinical conundrums which enhance medical education and physician competency. He has poster presentations, abstracts, and published manuscripts within those realms at the regional and national level including the AAP's journal, Pediatrics, the national Pediatric Hospital Medicine conference, the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference, and the Kansas AAP Chapter's state-wide conference. He also has served as physician champion for QI initiatives locally including nationwide efforts driven by the AAP related to high flow nasal cannula for bronchiolitis, acute management of croup, and patient/family-centered rounding.
