Professional Background

Dr Albert Eid received his medical degree from Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at East Tennessee State University and Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. His clinical and research focus has been infectious diseases in transplant recipients and immunocompromised patients. He joined the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Kansas Medical Center in July 2007 as an Assistant Professor. He was promoted to Associate Professor in July 2011 and to Professor in July 2025. He is serving as a Director of the Transplant Infectious Diseases section since October 2022.

Research

Overview

Dr Albert Eid has a special interest in clinical and translational research focused on infectious diseases in transplant recipients and immunocompromised patients. He has been involved in numerous studies evaluating viral infections in transplant recipients, with special focus on cytomegalovirus, herpes viruses in general, Parvovirus B19, and COVID-19.
