Adam T. Everson, Ph.D. is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology in the KUMC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and a member of the Onco-Psychology Program at the University of Kansas Cancer Center, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center.
Dr. Everson provides outpatient psychotherapy to support patients in coping with cancer-related distress and improving quality of life--from patients recently diagnosed to patients dealing with issues of survivorship. He also conducts psychological evaluations for patients pursing allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplants or chimeric-antigen receptor T-cell therapy (CAR-T).
Prior to joining the faculty at KU in 2024, Dr. Everson earned his Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where his research and clinical work focused on health disparities among marginalized groups. He completed his pre-doctoral residency/internship in clinical health psychology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where he worked with patients across primary care, trauma surgery, solid organ transplant, cancer, and physical rehabilitation setting. He then completed his post-doctoral fellowship in clinical health psychology with an emphasis in onco-psychology and palliative care also at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
