Alex Laffer, Ph.D

Alexandra Laffer, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center, specializing in onco-psychology and integrated behavioral health care. Her clinical work focuses on supporting patients and families across the cancer continuum, including adjustment to diagnosis and treatment, coping with serious illness, quality of life, grief and loss, and end-of-life care.

Prior to joining KU Medical Center, Dr. Laffer served as a Staff Psychologist with the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, specializing in health psychology and palliative care. She has extensive experience working with medically complex patients within interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Dr. Laffer is also committed to education, supervision, and scholarship, with research interests spanning aging, health behaviors, cognition, and innovative approaches to improving quality of life for patients with serious illness.
