What AGACNP Students Learn
During these courses, students in the AGACNP specialty will learn to:
- Use patient history, physical exams, and test results to tell the difference between common and more complicated health problems, avoid reasoning mistakes, and create evidence-based care plans for patients of all ages.
- Apply knowledge of diseases, medications, physical assessments, and diagnostic tests to narrow down possible diagnoses and create evidence‑based care plans for adults and older adults who are acutely or critically ill.
- Develop strong clinical reasoning skills to make sound diagnostic decisions even when information is unclear or uncertain.
- hands‑on practice with diagnostic and treatment procedures used to care for patients with complex acute, critical, or chronic conditions with emphasis on making individualized, patient‑centered decisions about ordering and interpreting tests and determining when advanced procedures are needed.
- Evaluate how well care plans work, communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals, and promote wellness through self‑care and disease‑prevention strategies.
Students should refer to the Course Catalog for full course information. Contact Student Affairs if you have questions.
