SoM Annual Faculty Retreat
Every August, KU Medical Center's School of Medicine hosts a faculty retreat, featuring keynote speakers and a State of the School address.
2026 Retreat Information
The 2026 School of Medicine Annual Faculty Retreat was held on Friday, August 28th, 12:00-4:00pm on the Kansas City campus. The event was co-hosted by SOM Faculty Council and the SOM Office of Medical Education.
Dr. Tanya Horsley, Director of Research and Evaluation, Royal College of Canada, delivered the event keynote. The event also included recognition of award recipients for the SOM Alumni Awards, SOM Mentoring Awards, and Ruth Bohan Teaching Professorship awards. Another event highlight was the State of the School address from Executive Dean Akinlolu O. Ojo.

2025 Retreat Information
The 2025 School of Medicine Annual Faculty Retreat was held on Friday, August 22nd, 12:00-3:30pm on the Kansas City Campus. Dr. Jen Brull, President, American Academy of Family Physicians and Mr. Shawn Martin, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, American Academy of Family Physicians hosted a panel discussion on Leading with Purpose.

2024 Retreat Information
The 2024 School of Medicine Annual Faculty Retreat was held on August 23rd, 1:00-3:00pm in Wahl Hall West Auditorium, Kansas City Campus.
Faculty Council welcomed Dr. Mark Anderson, M.D., Ph.D to give a keynote address on Improving the World Through Academic Medicine. Dr. Anderson is the Executive Vice President and Dean of Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago Medicine.
