KU TTS course cost is $1000 per person - *Some scholarships are available to those who work with clients in the state of Kansas
For Self-pay individuals who withdraw on or before the course start date: If a self-pay individual withdraws from the course prior to the start date, a full refund of registration fees, less a $30 administrative fee, will be approved if requested in writing at jayhawkglobal@ku.edu.
For Scholarship recipients who withdraw on or before the course start date: If a scholarship recipient withdraws from the course prior to the course start date, the student must contact jayhawkglobal@ku.edu and pay the $30 administrative fee.
The student can reapply for a future course, but a spot and scholarship will not be guaranteed.
ALL students who have not begun the course after 14 days from course commencement will be automatically dropped from the course.
After 14 days from course commencement, all Self-pay recipients who drop the course will not receive a refund. After 14 days from course commencement, all Scholarship recipients who drop the course must pay the $30 administrative fee. The student can reapply to a future course, but a scholarship will not be granted.
Yes, The University of Kansas Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training is fully accredited by the Council of Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP) since 2020.
Completing the KU TTS training will allow you to become a Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS). There are additional requirements to obtain the National Credential. Currently there are two national credentials 1) National Certification in Nicotine and Tobacco Treatment (NCNTT) - a professional credential offered by the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) and the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NCC AP) and 2) Certified Professional by the American Heart Association - Tobacco Treatment (CPAHA) offered by the American Heart Association. Completing an accredited program, like this one, is a pre-requisite to gaining the national certification, if desired.
Completion of the KU TTS pre and posttests: one attempt each but not part of final grade.
Module quizzes: Must pass with 100%; you have unlimited attempts to achieve a 100%.
Section exams: Must pass with 75%; you have unlimited attempts to achieve a 75% or greater.
Skills Building Day: Mandatory participation; virtual, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (CST).
Course Evaluation: Mandatory; must be completed by 5:30 pm (CST) on Skills Building Day.
Final open book exam: Must pass with 75%; you only have one attempt to score 75%.
Remediation: If you do not score at least 75% on your final exam, you must schedule a one hour review before the remediation deadline. Once you have graduated from the course, you will be added to KU Tobacco Treatment Providers Directory.
No, Trainees must be tobacco-free for six months prior to training.
Yes, The KU TTS program provided is accredited by the Council for Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP) and meets all competencies set forth by CTTTP accreditation standards.
You only need to take the TTS training once as the program is designed for participants who have never taken the TTS training.
Yes, continuing education credit is offered for this course. To receive continuing education credit or a certificate of attendance participants must fulfill all course requirements including completion of all online modules and the Skills Building Day Training component and completion of the pre/posttests and program evaluation. After all requirements are met, participants will receive instructions regarding completion of documentation and obtaining certificate(s).

KU STaRT course cost is $150 per person. Scholarships are available to those who work with clients in the state of Kansas.
Self-pay students who pay for the course on their own and who drop the course after 14 days of course enrollment, will not receive a refund.
