What is the All of Us Research Program?
All of Us Research Programs logo, The Future of Health Begins with YouToo often, health care is one size fits all. Imagine a future where prevention, treatment, and care are tailored for you and your family. This is called precision medicine. Research, including families and communities like yours, can help us get there.

All of Us has created one of the largest health data resources in history. By enrolling one million people who represent many backgrounds across the United States, researchers can better understand what makes us sick and what keeps us healthy. Adults and children ages 10 and younger can now join. Every family’s health story can spark new research and insights.

Enroll your family today!

Taking part is free and won’t cost you anything more than a little of your time.

What is KU Medical Center’s role?
KU Medical Center is proud to lead All of Us in the Midwest. As the coordinating site for the All of Us Research Program – Heartland Consortium, we are partnering locally with The University of Kansas Health System and Children's Mercy. We know our goals are ambitious, but we believe that when we come together, we can do incredible things, which is why we hope you will join in our efforts.

Become a valued partner in research

People join for many reasons. Some people join because they can:

  • Help improve the health of their families, communities, and future generations.
  • Help researchers find better and tailored ways for people to stay healthy.
  • Help researchers create better tests and treatments.
  • Learn more about their health.

The longer a person stays involved with All of Us, the more information they can share about their health and well-being. This sharing can help speed up health research and medical breakthroughs. They may also learn more about themselves and their health.

View more FAQs on the program’s website.

To get started, you will need to enroll first:

After you consent to join All of Us, you can also enroll your child aged 10 years and younger:

  • Create an account for your child within your All of Us Your child’s account will be linked to your account.
  • Give permission for your child to become an All of Us

After you enroll, you and your family can choose to complete activities, like answering health surveys and sharing electronic health records (EHRs). You will be able to choose how much you would like your family to participate. We may invite your family to schedule an in-person visit to provide physical measurements, like height and weight, and samples, like blood or saliva, and urine*.

Researchers can make more powerful discoveries from physical measurements, EHRs, and surveys.

*As an adult participant, you will receive $25 after completing an in-person visit to provide your samples and physical measurements. You also will receive $25 at the end of your child’s in-person visit when they provide their samples and physical measurements. Your child will receive a small thank you gift. Participants who do not complete an in-person visit will not receive $25.

All of Us protects survey responses the same way we protect other information you share with us. Your answers will be added to the Data Browser in the All of Us Research Hub. Researchers can use the data for many different studies. Before we add your answers, All of Us removes any information that can identify you. This means that your name, date of birth, address, and other identifying information are not available to researchers.

Your family’s privacy is very important, and All of Us takes great care to protect it if you join. Learn more about the specific ways All of Us protects participant data and privacy at JoinAllofUs.org/privacy.

Be An All of Us Researcher

The All of Us Research Program is working to enroll one million or more people. By sharing their health information with us, All of Us participants are helping us build one of the largest health resources of its kind.

The program offers tiered access to the data. Researchers’ institutions must first have agreements in place with All of Us before they can register to use the Researcher Workbench’s Registered and Controlled Tiers. The Public Tier dataset is available at DataBrowser.ResearchAllofUs.org. Use the Data Browser to explore aggregate-level data before starting your research in the Researcher Workbench.

Researchers can access All of Us participant data. Those researchers may work for universities, medical centers, or nonprofits. Everyone who uses All of Us data for research has to follow the same rules. They must agree to protect the privacy of participants. We require researchers to describe their research projects and how they will use the data. We share descriptions of all research underway.

Register for access at ResearchAllofUs.org.
