Study Title and PI Funding Source ClinicalTrials.gov Number (if applicable) Brief Summary
Mitigating the pro-inflammatory phenotype of obesity (MAPLE)
PI: Seth Holwerda
Investigator Initiated NCT04934228 The purpose of this study is to examine the hypothesis that 4 weeks of sympathetic nerve activity (SNA) inhibition (oral clonidine) will cause a significant reduction in circulating blood concentrations and endothelial cell expression of inflammatory markers (e.g., TNF-α, IL-6). Our study is a prospective study using a randomized, double-blinded design to test 4 weeks of SNA blockade (oral clonidine) compared with a BP-lowering control condition (diuretic, hydrochlorothiazide) or a placebo.
Monitered Anesthesia Care in In Burn Dressing Changes
PI: Anthony Kovac
Investigator Initiated   Monitored anesthesia care (MAC) is one method of providing sedation and analgesia for burn dressing changes. A previous retrospective study described the efficacy and safety of MAC in burn patients. The primary aim of this study is to further that research with a prospective, observational study of patient, burn nurse or technician, and anesthesia provider satisfaction with MAC for burn dressing change.
