Weekly Webinar with KU ADRC
Thursdays from 2-2:30 pm Central Time
The Remember Balloons | Kelly G. Loeb, MSW
How do we talk about Alzheimer’s disease and memory loss with children in ways that are honest, compassionate, and age-appropriate?
Join us for a heartfelt and hope-filled conversation about The Remember Balloons, the beloved children’s book by Kansas author Jessie Oliveros and illustrator Dana Wulfekotte. Using colorful balloons as a gentle metaphor for memories, the book opens the door to meaningful conversations about dementia, love, change, and connection across generations.
Together, we’ll explore how stories, familiar language, creativity, and even a little playfulness can help children better understand memory loss while still feeling safe, included, and connected to the people they love. We’ll also share practical communication ideas and resources for families, caregivers, educators, faith communities, and anyone supporting children through the changes Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias can bring.
Kelly G. Loeb, MSW, KU ADRC Community Engagement Coordinator will host and present during this session of the Weekly Webinar, which will include discussion, reflection, and a touch of nostalgia along the way.
