Eligibility
You are eligible for paid holidays if you hold a benefits-eligible position with an FTE of 48% or greater. Students and temporaries are not eligible.
Working on a holiday
If you work on a holiday and are exempt you earn comp time equal to the number of the hours you worked. If you are non-exempt, you either earn comp time equal to 1.5 times the number of hours you worked or you may be paid at 1.5 times your normal rate for each hour worked. The decision whether to award comp time or the holiday pay is generally determined by each department. Your manager can advise you.
Note: If you are a USS classified employee covered by the Fraternal Order of Police Memorandum of Agreement, there are separate rules that apply to working during Holiday hours. Your manager can advise you.
