Zachary Green, M.D., Ph.D.

Professional Background

I am originally from Douglass, Kansas, and completed a triple major in biochemistry, human biology, and psychology at the University of Kansas. After graduation, I opted to join the KUMC MSTP and eventually earned my Ph.D. in Neuroscience in the lab of Dr. Jill Morris with co-mentorship from Dr. Jeff Burns. My research was in the space of translational neuroscience and cognitive neurology, focusing on the relationship between cardiometabolic health and fluid/imaging biomarker changes in Alzheimer's Disease. I have a particular interest in the utility of functional neuroimaging for understand network level changes in dementia, and how these relate to the wide-ranging pathophysiological features of the disease. Over the course of my dissertation work, I was funded through a Biomedical Research Training Award, the Neurological and Rehabilitation Sciences Training Program (T32), and later by an F30.

After graduation, I left for the Bay Area to start my intern year at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, before completing my training as a Neurologist at Stanford Health Care. My ultimate goal is to complete a fellowship in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry, working at the boundary of academic medicine and clinical research, across various major neuropsychiatric conditions (particularly dementia).
