An important statewide conversation about aging is coming to Lawrence this fall! 

The 2026 Kansas Governor’s Conference on Aging will take place Sept. 29–30 at the University of Kansas Conference Center, bringing together health professionals, policymakers, students, educators, community leaders and others from across Kansas. 

Guided by the theme “Rooted in Respect, Growing an Age-Friendly Kansas,” the conference will offer two days of learning, connection and collaboration focused on the issues that matter most to older adults, their families and the communities that support them. 

A key focus will be the workforce that supports older adults across healthcare, home and community-based services, aging services and community systems. Attendees will explore timely topics including recruitment and retention, education and career pathways, evidence-based practices and stronger collaboration among health systems, education and community partners. 

With four conference tracks, attendees will explore a wide range of topics, from clinical care, healthy aging and chronic disease prevention to caregiving and workforce development, housing and transportation, and policy and systems change. 

Through its support of the conference, KU Area Health Education Center will provide continuing education opportunities for a wide range of health and aging professionals, while Kansas 4M will contribute expertise focused on improved care and better outcomes for older adults using the evidence-based Age-Friendly Health Systems framework known as the 4Ms: What Matters, Medication, Mentation, and Mobility. Kansas 4M also provides planning and fiscal support through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).*  

The conference is an opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the state, hear new ideas and be part of a larger conversation about building stronger, more age-friendly communities across Kansas. With a wide range of sessions addressing clinical care, healthy aging, caregiving, workforce development, housing, transportation, policy, the arts, and more, the conference offers important information for professionals and community leaders working to improve the lives of older adults.
